Ohio University Executive Vice President and Provost Elizabeth Sayrs has announced that Dr. Carey Busch has been appointed as the interim vice provost for student success.
Effective Sept. 26, Busch will replace Dr. Jen Murphy who serves as associate vice provost of guarantee plus graduation programs and has accepted a position at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business. Busch currently serves as the special assistant to the provost and university ADA/504 coordinator.
The Advising, Career and Experiential Learning team will now report to Busch, and she will be responsible for university-wide student success strategies.
“Dr. Busch has the knowledge and experience needed for this essential position,” Sayrs said. “She is a skilled leader who has excelled in her work at Ohio University, and she is deeply committed to helping students thrive.”
“I am grateful to Dr. Murphy who launched the Guarantee Plus Graduation Plan program and formed the Advising, Career and Experiential Learning office,” Sayrs said. “I wish her continued success at the Wharton School.”
Busch has held several key roles at OHIO, including interim dean of the University College from March 2020 until June 2022 and from January to August 2018.
In 2015, Busch was a recipient of Ohio University’s Outstanding Administrator Award, which is given to administrators at OHIO in recognition of their significant contributions to the University community. A three-time OHIO alumna, Busch earned her doctorate from Ohio University in 2015.
