Given that April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, it is an appropriate time to engage in discussions with your student about sexual expectations, consent and alcohol, and sexual violence on college campuses. You should familiarize yourself and your student with the campus resources
and advocates
available to survivors of sexual assault, dating or domestic violence, and stalking. While I recognize these are difficult conversations to have, OHIO's Survivor Advocacy Program
shares a guide
for how to initiate these discussions.
We take pride in our students, faculty, staff, and programs that continue to serve as a model for combating rape culture on college campuses. You too can help us keep Bobcats safe and give to survivors
the resources they need to begin recovery.

Support survivors at Take Back the Night
Take Back the Night is an international movement that focuses on survivor experiences and creating a safe place to be a survivor. Head to the Athena Cinema tomorrow evening and hear from keynote speaker Jayvon Howard , the Engaging Men Coordinator for the Ohio Alliance to End Sexual Violence.

Celebrate global humanity
International Week is here! Check out a full week of events and head Uptown this Saturday for the International Street Fair . Come together with the OHIO community to share food, perspectives, and meaningful connections across geography and culture.
Residence hall closures
The residence halls officially close at 8 p.m. on May 5. Don’t forget your closing checklist and other important information —checkout process, additional contracts, dining, quiet hours, and other details.
Avoid traffic during move out
Due to heavy traffic during commencement, it's recommended you move out prior to May 5. The Convo and South Green will be most impacted by traffic and parking restrictions will be in place during the 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. commencement ceremonies.
Housing extension and summer housing contracts
If you need to stay in a residence hall the night of May 5 due to a university-affiliated reason, you can request a one-night extension by filling out a Spring Semester Extension Request. Any student needing to reside on campus after 6 p.m. on May 6 through May 12 can request temporary accommodation at the rate of $30/night or $125/week by filling out a May Break Housing Contract. If you choose to stay during this week, you will need to transition to James or Ryors Halls on May 6 between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. If you are attending summer school, make sure you complete a Summer Student Contract.
All of these contracts can be found on your housing self-service and must be completed by May 4.
