Ohio University students, faculty and alumni are invited to submit nominations for University awards recognizing excellence in teaching and learning. One award, the Rising Star Award, recognizes faculty who have not yet received tenure, and is new to the slate of recognition.
Nominations are due by Oct. 15, 2023.
Presidential Teaching Award
The Presidential Teacher Award is presented annually to a full-time tenured faculty member based on excellence in teaching and meritorious academic pursuits both inside and outside the classroom, as acknowledged by peers and students. Presidential Teachers implement highly effective teaching practices and innovations, influence the curriculum, mentor students and colleagues, and engage in the scholarship of teaching and learning.
Provost Award for Excellence in Teaching
The Provost's Award for Excellence in Teaching is based on excellence in teaching and meritorious academic pursuits both inside and outside the classroom, as acknowledged by peers and students, including teaching practices and innovations, influences on curriculum, mentoring of students and colleagues, and scholarship with respect to teaching. Nominated faculty must be full-time, instructional, non-tenure track faculty from any of Ohio University's campuses.
University Professor
The University Professor Award recognizes outstanding teaching at the University by full-time tenure-track, instructional or clinical faculty. Nominations for this award come from the student body, and a student selection committee bestows the honor of University Professor on up to four faculty annually.
Rising Star Award
The Rising Star Award recognizes a faculty member who exemplifies teaching excellence at OHIO. Rising Stars engage in scholarly teaching and make visible a true commitment to the academic success of learners in their classrooms and in their disciplines. Nominated faculty must be tenure-track but non-tenured assistant or associate professors.
