On Oct. 22, Oracle Business Intelligence (OBI) will be upgraded to a new release and rebranded as OHIO Bobcat Insights. Functionality will remain the same, though users will notice minor changes to the font, colors, and top menu layout.
Why is this changing?
OBI is nearing end-of-life for vendor support and must be upgraded for Ohio University to continue receiving security updates, patches, and bug fixes.
What is changing?
The Office of Information Technology (OIT) has elected to rebrand the reporting platform as OHIO Bobcat Insights, including a new URL, to minimize confusion with other similarly named products. Once the upgrade is complete, users will automatically be directed to the new version.
Aside from the name change, daily users are most likely to notice some changes to the font and colors of the system, while layout and functionality remain largely the same.
While the learning curve should be minimal to current OBI users, OIT will offer virtual office hours during the cutover period to help users with adapting to the new service. Virtual office hours will take place via Teams on:
- Monday, Oct. 23, 12:30 - 1:30 p.m.
- Wednesday, Oct. 25, 12:30 - 1:30 p.m.
- Thursday, Oct. 26, 12:30 - 1:30 p.m.
Contact Toni Marinucci marinucc@ohio.edu via Teams or email if you would like to attend.
When is the change happening?
Users will be redirected to the new version of the service on Oct. 22.
How is OIT preparing?
OIT is currently performing extensive functionality testing of the new version. Additionally, OIT is preparing updated documentation for the Knowledge Base to guide users through the most commonly used OBI features.
