Canvas workshops to supplement Spotlight on Learning Conference

The 2024 Spotlight on Learning Conference is set to take place on Tuesday, April 16, 2024.

The Conference officially begins at 11:30 a.m. with the lunch keynote session, “Great College Teaching: Democratizing Learning” by Jeffrey C. Sun, J.D., Ph.D., professor and distinguished university scholar with the University of Louisville.

Pre-conference Canvas workshops will be available for OHIO faculty and staff earlier that morning. Both workshops can be attended remotely via Microsoft Teams or in Baker 240. If you plan to attend in person, please bring your own device.

9:00-10:15 a.m.: Canvas Orientation  Hosted by Canvas representatives, this session will provide an interactive overview of how to build effective Canvas courses. Faculty with a wide range of comfort and skill levels in Canvas will learn new tips, tricks, and best practices, including tools to bolster student engagement.

10:15-11 a.m.: Canvas Phase 1 Lessons Learned to Inform your Teaching Transition 
Office of Information Technology and Office of Instructional Design staff will share a summary of Phase 1 assessment findings, support resources for faculty at OHIO, and an overview of OHIO's Canvas templates and how they improve teaching effectiveness and efficiency.
