One of the things that makes Ohio University and the Scripps College of Communication special is the opportunity to learn through engaging and connecting with all of the knowledgeable and supportive people and amazing hands-on learning opportunities available. During the Scripps College activities on Welcome Weekend, which will be held in the Schoonover Center Lobby, new students will have access to all of it in one place. The Scripps Student Organization Fair will be on Saturday from 1-1:45 p.m., with the College Welcome taking place from 1:50-3 p.m.
“On Saturday, new students are able to connect with current Scripps students, faculty, staff, student organizations, and centers,” said Assistant Dean Greg Moeller. “They’ll learn about Scripps specific organizations and are able to connect with current student leaders in those organizations. The great thing about the Scripps Organization Fair is that it is a smaller version of the large campus involvement fair on Sunday. We make it easier for students to connect with their peers in Scripps.”
During the College Welcome, students will get to hear about ways they can make the most of their time on campus from the dean’s office, director of each school in the Scripps College, and the general manager at WOUB Public Media.
“Students learn about the importance of making the most of their four-year experience in Scripps and how to connect with faculty, staff and students outside of their declared major,” said Moeller. “They also hear about the wonderful minors, certificates, and experiential learning opportunities.”
Moeller has one important piece of advice for new students attending the Scripps event on Saturday.
“Ask questions and introduce yourself to faculty, staff, the dean, and other students,” said Moeller. “That will help you get the most out of Saturday and your entire Scripps experience.”
