With an aim to engage alumni around the world in this strategic initiative, the Office of Global Affairs, University Advancement, and Ohio University Alumni Association propose to launch the OHIO Global Network Fellow program. Global Network Fellow(s), comprised of current international student(s), will work on behalf of OHIO to reach out and engage international alumni in their home country. The goal is to establish and strengthen the relationships between international students (prospective and current) and alumni and create ways to foster meaningful engagement opportunities and connections. A diverse body of international alumni that is engaged and supportive of Ohio University (OHIO) is essential to advancing its mission of excellence in education, research, and outreach. One of OHIO’s strategic initiatives is to increase alumni and corporate engagement and coordination: “Recognizing that Ohio University’s alumni are invaluable brand ambassadors who can enhance the institution’s profile, the initiative will engage alumni to impact enrollment, internships, mentorship, job and career placement, curricular opportunities, and philanthropy” (OHIO International Alumni Engagement 2020-21).

The Global Network Fellow will serve to engage international alumni through social media and to connect prospective and current students with alumni in their home countries. The scope of the connection could include, but is not limited to, recruitment, mentoring, internship, networking, and career development. The Global Network Fellow will work closely with the Office of Global Affairs, University Advancement, and the Alumni Association to create diverse engagement initiatives and opportunities based on the needs, interest, and capacity of international alumni and students. In addition, the Global Network Fellow will help update contact information of international alumni.
