Logan Evans, a graduate of OHIO’s McClure School, has joined IT cloud services company, Accent in Columbus, Ohio.

Accent, which specializes in a phone and video, is a cloud provider for businesses. While primarily a local business, Accent has clients nationally as well. At Accent, Evans is a sales development specialist, meaning that he, along with his co-workers, work to improve the outreach of Accent.

Evans graduated from the ITS program in May 2021. Evans also holds a minor in business administration. He has been working at Accent for around 6 months, beginning work shortly after his graduation.

At Accent, he utilizes knowledge garnered from both the ECT School and his current employment. He walked us through how the ECT School’s emphasis on both the technical and business side of IT set him up for success. Logan appreciates how the knowledge of various protocols, both related to VoIP and for IT in general, was also a key takeaway from the program.

Upon entering the industry, Logan realized that there were not only 100s of providers, but 1000s. This was just one of many realizations that he had upon entering the industry, and he said that having more to learn helps invigorate his interest in IT.

Logan shared with us that his day-to-day consists in working with clients, working on technical demos and presentations, planning, and meeting with colleagues.

Here is some advice he would like to give to our students. Be persistent and have a passion to keep learning. Logan believes that those studying IT should find a ‘corner’ that they enjoy, a specialty. He insisted on the importance of persistence when applying to jobs as well as in the importance of networking.

For the near future, Logan wants to grow his skills in cyber security and intends to pursue a master’s degree in that field. He states that the faculty at the McClure school, sparked his interest in the field.
