Group Members: Dustin, Samantha, Amanda *Task orientation:* *Strengths:* - Communicate their goals clearly - Outline tasks specifically - Issue clear deadlines - Offer their employees guidance to complete tasks - Be appreciated by people who don't manage their time well - Delegate effectively - Achieve results *Weaknesses/Challenges:* - Stymie employee feedback - Show little regard for employee welfare - Create a tense work environment - Squelch innovation and creativity - Diminish employee morale - Contribute to employee burnout - Find themselves wrestling with retention and recruitment problems *Relationship orientation-* A relational-oriented leader understands the importance of tasks, but also places a tremendous amount of time and focus on meeting the needs of everyone involved in the assignment. This may involve offering incentives like bonuses, providing mediation to deal with workplace or classroom conflicts, spending individual time with employees to learn their strengths and weaknesses, offering above-average financial compensation, or just leading in a personable or encouraging manner. Challenging: everything is situational. There are different times and different reasons in different situations. *Change orientation-* scanning and interpreting external events, articulating an attractive vision, proposing innovative programs, appealing for change, creating a coalition to support and implement change; adapting to change in the environment, making major changes in goals, policies, procedures, and programs, gaining commitment to change. *Challenge:* Change can be hard. Most people don't like change due to the unknown. *Warner Burke Video:* - Important element today. Unique, transformational aspect, have to have a clear sense of vision and urgency to bring about change. - Keep at it, don't give up. *PROBLEM:* messy because we plan it and when we implement it it's messy because it may not line up or didn't anticipate it occuring. - Change has to start at the top and led from the top (boss). - Giving up is the biggest problem. - Doesn't happen in a 24 hr period, happens over time. *Intersections:* - *Change* intersects human, politcal, open systems - *Relations* is like human resourse (HR) and natural system - Rational is also *task oriented* -- *Amanda Luttrell* *Zahn's Corner Middle School* *Sixth Grade Language Arts* -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
