Abriana Greshamwas selected to receive an OHIO Student Enhancement Award to support her research. Her project is titled “ Intimate partner violence victimization and psychological reactivity to couple conflict .”
Rebecca Tottonreceived the College of Arts & Sciences Outstanding Mentor Award.
Joey Sadler Yostwas interviewed by the American Psychological Association’s APA Monitor for their article titled “ On the Front Lines of Covid-19” . He also presented a webinar for The American Psychological Association Division 12: Society of Clinical Psychology, titled “ Coping with covid-19 in an academic medical center: The role of psychology. ” He was invited to be a panel member at the presentation “The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic: Dissemination, intervention, and training efforts in a panicked society” at the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies 54th Annual Convention. He presented “ A taxonomy of behavioral emergencies in the general hospital: A comparison of behavioral emergencies pre-covid-19 and during the covid-19 outbreak ” at the 2020 Annual Meeting of the Academy of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry. Lastly, he received a 2020 Interprofessional Collaboration Award from the UVA Center for Interprofessional Collaboration.

Chelsea Hustuswas a recipient of the Ohio University College of Arts & Sciences Competitive Graduate Student Research Fund supporting her resea rch. Her project is titled “ Examining the Impact of Nudging Interventions on Teachers’ Reported Willingness and Desire to Use an Evidence-Based Classroom Intervention.”
Raisa Rayaccepted a faculty position at Nationwide Children’s Hospital as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health at The Ohio State University.
Katrina Hamiltonreceived the first place prize in Psychology at the Student Research and Creative Activity Expo at Ohio University and also received the first place prize from the Appalachian Institute to Advance Health Equity Science at the Student Research and Creative Activity Expo at Ohio University.
Andrew Manigaultreceived a Graduate Student Research Award from the Society for Health Psychology and was one of five students selected for the John Cady Graduate Fellowship from Ohio University.

2016
Alex Woodyreceived the 2016 APAGS Scott Mesh Honorary Scholarship for Research in Psychology for his dissertation project. He was also selected to receive an OHIO Student Enhancement Award for his research, "A test of the Perseverative Cognition Hypothesis using hair cortisol in a sample of dementia caregivers and non-caregiver controls."
Ping Xuwas selected to attend this year's Summer Institute on Bounded Rationality offered by the Max Planck Institute for Human Development in Berlin.
Kristina Carterand undergraduate student Rachel Alley received the second place Appalachian Rural Health Institute Award for "A lens model analysis of nutrition judgments" at the recent Ohio University student research expo. She also was selected to attend the Third Judgment and Decision Making Summer School for Ph.D. Students sponsored by the European Association for Decision Making and held at the University of Amsterdam in The Netherlands`.
Charles Doan, Leah Halper, and Ross Rogershave been selected from the Psychology Department as recipients of the College of Arts & Sciences's Outstanding TA Award.
Verenea Serranowas selected to receive an OHIO Student Enhancement Award to support her research. Her project is titled "Exploring Social Information Processing of Emotion Content and its Relationship with Social Outcomes in Youth with Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder."
Katrina Hamiltonwas selected to receive an OHIO Student Enhancement Award to support her research, "Impact of Lifestyle Changes via the Complete Health Improvement Program on Telomerase Activity and Telomere Length in Patients with Chronic Pain."
Andrew McClintockwas a recipient of the Elsie Ramos First Author Student Poster Award at the Annual Conference of the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT) in November.
Lisa Paikwas chosen to receive a Graduate Student Scholarship from the Society for Industrial-Organizational Psychology (SIOP). The scholarship was awarded in recognition of Lisa's dissertation proposal which is titled "Exploring the Link between Work-Family Conflict and Abusive Supervision."
Jiuqing Chengaccepted a position as a visiting assistant professor in the Psychology Department at the College of William and Mary in Virginia.
Derek Zeigleraccepted a tenure-track position as an assistant professor of psychology at West Virginia Wesleyan College.
2014-15
Andrew Manigaultwas awarded a 2015-16 Winter Unrestricted Travel grant by Psi Chi for his paper titled "Effects of Mindlessness and Rumination in Predicting Cortisol Recovery to an Acute Social-Evaluative Stressor," which he will present at SPSP in San Diego, CA, on Jan. 28-30. He also received first place at the Ohio University Student Research and Creative Activity Expo.
Jiuqing Cheng'swork on consumer choice and decision making was featured in the OHIO College of Arts & Sciences Forum .
Clifton Mixonand Alex Holdawaywere selected to receive a 2015 American Psychological Association Dissertation Research Award.
Essence Rivers, a senior psychology major, was awarded $1,187 through the Provost Undergraduate Research Fund (PURF) to conduct her research on the relationship between emotional intelligence and the effects of ostracism. The grant will also help fund her travel to Chicago to present at the Midwestern Psychological Association conference. Essence is conducting her research as an independent study with social psychology graduate student, Stephanie Smith.
Mikayla Barcuswas awarded a Women of Mathematical Psychology (WoMP) Travel and Networking Award. Funding for this award comes from the National Science Foundation.
Ashley Howellwas awarded the Donald Clippinger Fellowship. This is one of five fellowships awarded by the Graduate College to Ohio University graduate students.
Andrew Halseyaccepted a cognitive scientist position in the Cognitive Modeling Branch of the United States Air Force Research Laboratory.
Ellen Gordonaccepted a faculty position in the College of Business at Ohio University.
Jason Harmanaccepted a position as an assistant professor in the Department of Psychology at Louisiana State University. He was also selected to participate in the Summer Institute on Bounded Rationality at the Max Planck Institute in Berlin.
Craig Spiel, Lisa Paik, and Clifton Mixonreceived Student Enhancement Awards to support their research.
Verenea Serranowas accepted for study in the Ecuador Professional Preparation Program. She will spend part of her 2015 summer in Ecuador providing psychological services to children and families and enhancing her Spanish speaking competencies for psychological practice.
Dori Bloomwas selected as the recipient of the 2014-15 College of Arts & Sciences Outstanding TA Award from the Psychology Department. She has earned excellent student teaching evaluations while teaching a broad range of courses for the department, including multiple service courses.
Lizz Fillionaccepted a position as an assistant professor of psychology at Minnesota State University, Mankato.
2013-14
Anne Dawsonreceived an OHIO Student Enhancement Award supporting her research. Her project is titled, " Conflict in Parent-Teacher Relationships: Initial Scale Development ."
Twenty-five clinical graduate students provided therapy services, and twelve clinical graduate students conducted clinical assessments in the Psychology and Social Work Clinic during 2013-14. A total of 141 clients, including 42 community members, received therapy services, and 41 clients, including 14 community members, received assessments.
Clinical graduate students received traineeships in 13 different community settings, including sites in Chillicothe, Columbus, Gallipolis, Jackson, Pomeroy, and Logan.
A new clinical traineeship was started that serves 315 economically disadvantaged preschoolers in Meigs and Gallia counties.
All nine clinical doctoral students who sought an APA accredited internship successfully found one. This was the fourth year in a row that every clinical student obtained an internship. The Psychology Department at Ohio University is one of just 16 graduate programs (out of 262 programs) that can claim that every clinical student who sought an APA accredited internship over the last four years obtained one.
2012-13
Sixty-nine graduate students or former graduate students published or had accepted for publication articles, books, or book chapters with faculty in the Psychology Department.
Seventy-two graduate students attended professional conferences to present papers or posters.
Four graduate students chaired symposia at national conferences.
Nora Bunfordwas chosen to receive the 2013 American Psychological Foundation (APF) Elizabeth Munsterberg Koppitz Graduate Student Fellowship. This prestigious award provides her with $25,000 to support her dissertation research.
Alison Reilly Menattiwas chosen to be Vice Chair of the Early Career Special Special Interest Group of the Anxiety and Depression Association of America.
Six graduate students obtained academic positions or prestigious post-doctoral fellowships after graduating from Ohio University:
For the third year in a row, every clinical doctoral student (N = 9) who sought a clinical internship position was successful in obtaining one. Given that the nationwide success rate is approximately 75 percent, this is particularly impressive.
