FAQ's

How much do services cost?

  • Please refer to our section on fees .

Do I have to be an Ohio University student to receive services?

  • No. The clinic provides service to community members as well as the university community.

Who provides the service?

  • Service providers are graduate student clinicians working under the direct clinical supervision of licensed faculty members.

Can I get help without anyone knowing?

  • We are committed to protecting and maintaining your confidentiality.
  • No information about you or the service we provide will be released without your written permission unless law requires it.

How do I contact the clinic?

  • The best way to initiate services or to find out more about the services offered is to call the clinic at 740-593-0902 or come see us on campus. We ask that the person who will be receiving services make the request for services. In the case of a minor child, their parent or legal guardian needs to contact us. During this first contact, usually on the telephone, we will ask you some basic information. This information will allow us to determine whether our services are a good match for your needs, and if so, an intake interview will be scheduled.

Can I request a specific therapist or type of therapist?

  • Yes. All special requests will be reviewed by the Clinic Director for appropriateness and therapist availability. Requests will be accommodated where possible.

What does it mean when my therapist says they are "supervised"?

  • "Supervision" in mental health training refers to the fact that graduate students in training are not yet licensed to provide mental health services independently. Therefore, a licensed faculty member is assigned who oversees the student's clinical work. The clinical supervisor is legally and ethically responsible for the student clinician's clinical activities. All students are required to either audio or videotape each session they conduct. This requirement provides the supervisor important information about the student's skill development and allows for optimizing the quality of care.
