Joyce Wamoyi is the 2019-2020 Glidden Visiting Professor in the African Studies Program. She works in areas of Sexual and Reproductive Health and behavior and will present on sexual and reproductive health risks faced by adolescent girls and young women in sub-Saharan Africa. This talk draws on her research work in sub-Saharan. We will discuss why it is important to focus on adolescent girls and young women in sub-Saharan Africa, the role of transactional sex as a structural driver for Human Immune deficiency virus (HIV) risk, conceptualization and measurement of the practice of transactional sex and the way forward in addressing transactional sex.
