Open OHIO

Open OHIO graphic

Open OHIO provides a place and time to engage in face-to-face communication with people from different walks of life. University students, faculty, staff, and Athens community members can bring thoughts to share about any topic that is important to them, and also can come to grow their perspective or simply practice listening to what fellow community members have to say.

Open OHIO is sponsored by the Office of Instructional Innovation, Office for Diversity and Inclusion, Division of Student Affairs, and the Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Service. Questions about Open OHIO can be directed to Sarah Davis , associate professor in the Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Service.

Testimonials

"Talking openly about things we care about and deeply listening to those who think differently from ourselves are crucially important for democracy. I am committed to helping students become engaged citizens and think Open OHIO conversations are valuable because they can help provide space for dialogue about issues that matter for our community." —Laura Black, Associate Professor, School of Communication Studies; Editor, Journal of Public Deliberation

"Open OHIO is a forum needed now more than ever, an opportunity to bring us together in dialogue when so many would keep us apart. We will not always agree but we will always engage in an effort to move forward together." Geoff Dabelko , Professor and Associate Dean, Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Service
