Description

College students’ sense of belonging is an important factor in retention and persistence to graduation. The Academic Achievement Center strives to offer inclusive programs and services that develop necessary academic skills in all students on all Ohio University campuses while simultaneously fostering a sense of belonging. Our lecture will discuss a range of Academic Achievement Center services, including the Supplemental Instruction (SI) program, which provides twice-weekly group study sessions for students taking historically difficult, large-enrollment classes.

Learning Outcomes

  • Describe how participating in academic assistance programs and services contributes to a student’s sense of belonging.
  • Identify the Academic Achievement Center (AAC) as the university's learning center.
  • Describe how the AAC serves the diverse student population.
  • Explain the AAC’s academic assistance programs and services to others.
  • Direct OHIO students to the AAC for academic assistance and job opportunities.
