Sporangial development leads to the formation of thin-walled (zoo)sporangia, which produce secondary zoospores.Cruciform divisionsoccur in early stages of sporangial development, and noncruciform divisions occur in later stages. There is no evidence at this time that the noncruciform divisions are meiotic divisions as are the noncruciform divisions in sporogenic plasmodia. Sporangial development has not been observed for eitherTetramyxaorMembranosorus.
