Psychology Diversity, Inclusion, and Social Justice (DISJ) Committee

Functions

The responsibilities of the Diversity, Inclusion, and Social Justice Committee include the following:

  • Promoting training opportunities for faculty and students regarding diversity, inclusion, and social justice issues
  • Promoting research and teaching related to diversity, inclusion, and social justice
  • Promoting a psychologically safe and inclusive organizational climate

Membership

The DISJ core committee is comprised of four elected faculty members and two graduate student representatives. Faculty are selected from across all campuses and include a tenure-track faculty member with an experimental background, one tenure track faculty member with a clinical background, one instructional faculty member, and one department administrator (selected from among those who hold the positions of Chair of Undergraduate Studies, Chair of Graduate Studies, Director of the Online Program, Director of Experimental Training, and Director of Clinical Training). Committee members are selected by the full faculty. The elected departmental administrator will be ex officio Coordinator in order to facilitate regular meetings and agenda. Graduate student representatives include one experimental and one clinical student, elected by their peers.In addition to this core committee, DISJ subcommittees are open to all other department faculty and graduate students.

Psychology DISJ Newsletter

The Ohio University Psychology Department’s Diversity Inclusion and Social Justice (DISJ) committee started to regularly distribute a newsletter to spotlight Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) happenings at the university and within the department.
