About the Program

Since 1972, Ohio University has lived at the forefront of athletic training education. OHIO's Master of Science in Athletic Training Program provides students the ability to combine knowledge and skills learned in the classroom with the experiences gained at a variety of clinical sites.

The MSAT Program is a two-year program. Upon graduation, students are awarded a Master of Science in Athletic Training. They are also eligible to become nationally certified and state licensed.

Clinical education allows students to be involved in patient care. Working with preceptors, students help provide supervised health care services to athletes involved in Ohio University intercollegiate athletics, Ohio University club sports, local high schools, clinics, and hospitals. During the second year, students will complete two immersive experiences that are at least 8 weeks long.
