The new and improved Finance website went live on August 1. In January 2017, the office of Change Management and Communication partnered with Finance, Information Technology and University Communications and Marketing to redesign the Finance website. The main goal of the project was to design a user friendly site based on campus needs. Through a series of surveys and focus groups, the site was designed based on primary functions within Finance as opposed to the organizational structure of Finance. The site is also the first website to go live in the University’s new content management system.
The site’s main navigation is organized by categories, which consist of Accounting & Reports, Budget, Purchasing & Payments, Travel, Systems, Capital Projects, and Treasury. There is a resources section, which provides quick access to consolidated training, forms, the closing calendar, and other resources. All major systems associated with Finance are accessible from icons on the home page and there are audience specific sections toward the bottom of the page so users that do not visit the site often can quickly find what they need.
Another goal of the redesign project was to improve the process of Business Matters. The new website features a Business Matters news feed. Beginning in August, all Business Matters articles will be created as articles on the Finance website and a summary will be sent via email on a monthly basis.
Thank you to all who participated and collaborated in the website redesign. In October, a follow-up survey will be distributed in order to gather feedback about the redesigned website and understand how it can continuously improve.
