PURPOSE:To establish procedures for cancelling food truck service during inclement weather and safety related issues. The goal is to operate the food truck safely and not take any unnecessary risk during inclement weather or other campus emergencies.
PROCEDURE
1. When inclement weather is forecasted, the Director of Culinary Services along with other senior members of the Culinary Team will make a decision by 5:00 p.m. whether or not the food truck will operate the next day.
2. The food truck will not operate when any of the following is forecasted for Athens. This is not an inclusive list and there may be other times that the Director of Culinary Services and his team deem that operation of the food truck is unsafe. a. The forecasted high temperature will be 14 F or below. b. The forecast calls for wind chill temperatures of 0 F or below. c. Four or more inches of snow are forecasted. If the forecasted range of snow could reach four (4) inches or more (i.e. 2-4 inches of snow forecasted), the food truck will not operate. d. Freezing rain or ice is in the forecast.
3. Anytime the University is officially closed for a weather related condition or safety concern, the food truck will not operate.
4. Culinary Services will alert the campus community of the decision not to operate the food truck through its website and social media platforms.
5. This procedure will be posted on the Culinary Services website so that the University Community will know in advance the conditions that will prevent Culinary Services from operating the food truck.
