Navy renames oceanographic survey ship after OHIO geologist Marie Tharp, who helped discover plate tectonics

March 29, 2023 U.S. Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro announced that the Pathfinder-class oceanographic survey ship formerly named USNS Maury has been renamed the USNS Marie Tharp in honor of an OHIO alumna.
