Our History
Since 2012, the Diabetes Institute has consolidated diabetes-related initiatives on the Ohio University campuses to better leverage resources thus creating a greater impact. A focus on diabetes in academic programs, research, patient care, and heath outreach to the community are the foundation of the institute.
How Our Research Becomes Care
Our unique interdisciplinary approach to diabetes research allows for our basic science investigators to work bench to bedside in strong collaboration with our applied research investigators and/or clinicians. This approach enhances scientific progress by translating research findings into novel strategies and new drug discoveries for prevention, treatment, and cures for diabetes and related conditions.
What We Do
Our "pillars" are our strength. We strategically place our focus in four distinct areas:
-
Basic and Applied Research
-
Academic and Professional Training
-
Patient Care
-
Community Impact
