The National Residence Hall Honorary ( NRHH National Office ) is a national organization that recognizes exceptional students, programs, and community service within residence halls. At Ohio University, our chapter proudly carries the name of Dr. Jim Sand, honoring his lifelong commitment to student leadership and his lasting impact on our campus community.
Dr. Sand dedicated many years to Housing and Residence Life, overseeing both the Residence Hall Association (RHA) and NRHH. Even after his retirement, he returned to continue supporting students and helped revitalize a once-inactive NRHH chapter. Under his leadership, Ohio University was selected to host the 2025 NACURH Regional Business Conference and was later named NACURH School of the Year—a testament to his influence and dedication.
The Dr. Jim Sand NRHH chapter continues his legacy by recognizing outstanding student leaders in multiple ways. Each year, new members are inducted into NRHH based on their exceptional service and commitment to their residential communities.
Another important recognition tool used by NRHH is the Of The Month ( OTM page ) submission process. Each month, students and Housing and Residence Life staff can nominate individuals, programs, or initiatives for recognition in various categories. These nominations are then evaluated and can be recognized at the campus, regional, and national levels.
Our chapter is growing—just like our efforts to celebrate and uplift the student leaders who make a difference in residence life. If you're interested in learning more about NRHH at Ohio University, please contact Jaiden Rittinger at rittinger@ohio.edu .
