Lancaster Campus Facilities & Information

Ohio University Lancaster offers a welcoming and supportive environment, fostering a strong sense of community for students, faculty and staff, and local community members.

The OHIO Lancaster campus offers a unique blend of historic character and contemporary learning environments. Two historic bridges, John Bright #1 and John Bright #2, enhance the charm of the grounds. Academic life is centered in Brasee Hall and Herrold Hall, with additional facilities including a fully equipped gymnasium, a fitness center, adedicated theatre, an art gallery, and comprehensively equipped labs for science and nursing studies.

Students benefit from small class sizes and accessible faculty, promoting personalized learning experiences. While the campus does not offer on-campus housing, it provides a range of student organizations and community engagement opportunities, contributing to a vibrant campus life.

  • IT Services

    OHIO Lancaster's Information and Technology Services supports students, faculty and staff with a wide range of campus technology needs.

    The Help Desk is located inside the JJ Center in Brasee Hall and offers walk-up support for issues related to computers, networking, classroom tech, and audio/visual equipment. Remote assistance is also available through phone, email, or service ticket. Additional resources include Eduroam Wi-Fi access, free Microsoft Office 365 for current students and staff, and support for systems like Catmail and Canvas.

Library Services

Conveniently located in the North Lobby of Brasee Hall on the 2nd and 4th floors, the Hannah V. McCauley Library serves students, faculty, and the community with access to millions of books and articles through OhioLINK.

OhioLINK connects users to the print and digital collections of 117 libraries across 88 institutions, including the State Library of Ohio — providing a powerful network of academic resources.

The McCauley Library also houses a unique collection of nearly 9,000 children’s literature titles, a curated selection of leisure reading materials, and a variety of DVDs.

Wagner Theatre

Located in Brasee Hall on the OHIO Lancaster campus, the Wagner Theatre is a 450-seat auditorium that serves as a dynamic center for both university and community events. 

Since its first production in 1969, OHIO Lancaster has staged over 50 Broadway-style shows, establishing a strong tradition in the performing arts. Today, the Ohio University Lancaster Theatre program continues this legacy by producing three major productions during the academic year, along with a summer community production featured during the historic Lancaster Festival. 

The Wagner Theatre also plays host to a variety of major campus events including Bobcat Blitz, STEM Discovery Day, theatrical performances, and guest lecture series. Beyond campus, it serves as a vital space for the public—welcoming school spelling bees, civics competitions, business conferences, community productions, and much more.

Founded in 1956, OHIO Lancaster combines academic excellence with deep community roots. Located in historic Lancaster — birthplace of Anchor Hocking Glass and General Sherman — the campus has grown from evening classes at Lancaster High School into a vibrant hub for students of all ages. 

We invite you to visit our scenic campus and explore the charm of downtown Lancaster , nearby historic landmarks like the Sherman House , area attractions like the Ohio Glass Museum and scenic parks like Hocking Hills . It’s a welcoming place to learn, connect, and be part of something meaningful.

  • Reserve a Space on Campus

    Ohio University Lancaster offers a variety of spaces available for reservation, including classrooms, promotional spaces, an art gallery, a theatre, and a gymnasium.  These spaces can be used for meetings, training sessions, conferences, and more. Both university-affiliated and public requests are welcome and reviewed case-by-case.
