While enrolled in the University’s health plan, which is considered a creditable group employer health plan, you may not need to enroll in Medicare and can enroll in Medicare without incurring a penalty at a later date if/when coverage under Ohio University ceases. At that time you will be asked to complete a portion of Medicare’s Request for Employment Information form [PDF] ; the Office of Human Resources will complete the Employers section.
In most cases if you chose to enroll in Medicare the University will pay as primary and Medicare will pay as secondary.
